This page is for Tekken 8. For Tekken 7, see Feng (Tekken 7).
Feng Wei is, in a word, unconventional. Whatever he lacks in traditional Tekken tools, he makes up for it with incredible evasion, a full kit of very frustrating lows, and a great suite of back turn tools, including a 50/50 coin-flip throw mixup. His crouch dash (qcf or d,df) gives him the ability to make deep approaches by canceling into his safe WS1 (d,df,n,1), as well as giving him access to his qcf1+2 and qcf1, the former is a +0 on block headbutt that forces the opponent into crouch, the latter being a low, unparryable shoulder, both of which wreak havoc on counter hit.
His Deceptive Step (KNP or back Kenpo, b+3+4) and Shifting Clouds (STC or forward Kenpo, f+3+4) stances can both be used to either sway out of an opponents threat range or move into it to apply pressure, and between the two have a set of pokes that an opponent needs to learn to deal with.
Feng requires a lot of raw conditioning to be done before he can really open up his evasive, tricky gameplan by testing the waters with his snake dash (crouch dash chain) and stances, but once he opens up the floodgates, you can expect to eat a b+1+2 shoulder or a b+1 CH mini-combo into it in no time.
- Quick approach with snake dash (crouch dash into crouch cancel using u,n or ub,n into another crouch dash)
- Great selection of low (db+3, d+2...) and mid pokes (b+4, df+1...)
- An advantageous, lunging mid in b+3
- Scary mixups including fast, launching sweeps (BT.d+3 and SS.4) and a safe, launching mid (df3)
- Evasive moves and stances such as uf+2 and Deceptive Step make him difficult to approach and pressure
- Very strong block and whiff punishment at all ranges and frames
- Weakness to sidestep left and long whiff recovery on a lot of moves means careless approaches will be punished harshly
- Struggles with off-axis combos
- Lackluster counterhit game outside of b+1
- Wonky range and hitbox on his hopkick and ws.3 can make it hard to launch punish some specific moves
- The oldest 27 year old man of all time
